CATEGORIES AND PRICING

TEAMS

Get your friends, family members, school mates or colleagues together and enter as a team.

We’ll have some great prizes for teams, including largest team, fastest team (based on aggregated fastest 4 times), best dressed team and most funds raised.

We welcome any additional fundraising, including sponsorship of the event, donations toward the playground, sponsorship of equipment at the new playground or get creative with other ideas!

ADD YOUR SUPPORT TO THE PLAYGROUND

By entering this event - on your own or as a family or group, you are supporting this fantastic community project. When you register, you have the option of topping up your entry fee with a donation towards the playground.

By topping up your entry - as an individual or family team - to $250, you can purchase a timber boardwalk plank etched with your name or family name (see our website for more information) as part of a boardwalk beneath the oak trees at the new playground.  Topping up to $100 will earn you a place on our sponsor wall. We will contact you to confirm your preferred name for the plank or sponsor wall as applicable.

Additional sponsorship opportunities are available for families and businesses.  Please visit our website for more information or contact us to discuss.

THE COURSE

The 5k event is a two-lap course across Pohlen Park and adjacent Neil Algar Reserve with a combination of grass (short) and gravel. It makes for an enjoyable, reasonably flat and fast course - easy for all abilities and fitness levels.

ON THE DAY INFO

The event will held at Pohlen Park Sunday 30th March 2025 followed by a prizegiving.

You may register for the event via Webscorer by clicking here.

Late registrations can be taken on the day up to 8.30am at the race HQ outside Headon Stadium. Late fees kick in for registrations received after midnight on the Thursday before each event.

There is plenty of parking at Headon Stadium and additional street parking is available on both Western Street and Smith Street.

In the event of particularly adverse weather, we will monitor conditions and make a decision via our event and Project Play Facebook pages as well as the Matamata Notice Board page.

If the event must be postponed, our back-up date is Sunday 6th April.

The race begins at 9:00am and the Junior Dash shortly after at 9:10am.

Following the event, we will hold a prizegiving at the event HQ at Pohlen Park (with an indoor option in the event of bad weather).

We will post results as soon as possible via Webscorer.

Hydration

We are aiming for a low-waste event so encourage all participants to bring their own drink bottle. Water will be available for drink refilling.

We do not have water stations out on the course, however you can stop for a drink as you pass race HQ for the second lap.

IMPORTANT RULES TO REMEMBER

Please read the terms of registration including race rules before entering and participating. A successful event relies on every participant competing with integrity and consideration.

If you have any questions, please contact us at playground@matamatafutures.co.nz.
